More competent thus more legitimate? MPs’ discourses on deliberative mini-publics

چکیده
MPs face a dilemma when it comes to deliberative mini-publics (DMPs): in context of distrust, they may see as an opportunity re-legitimize themselves and solve complex policy issues. But could also challenge the quasi-monopoly used have on political decisions undermine role Parliament primacy elections. The article is found 91 face-to-face interviews with French-speaking Belgian sitting federal or regional parliaments. First, we describe profile supporters DMPs. We then identify three ideal–typical discourses: power-sharing discourse, consultative elitist discourse. contribution this twofold. analyzes argumentative frames by assess using large number interviews. Second, demonstrates that their discourses depend evaluation ordinary citizens’ competence participate resulting vision representation. Political actors mainly perceive DMPs instruments would alter elected position legitimacy election.

Priority Setting for Universal Health Coverage: We Need Evidence-Informed Deliberative Processes, Not Just More Evidence on Cost-Effectiveness
Priority setting of health interventions is generally considered as a valuable approach to support low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in their strive for universal health coverage (UHC). However, present initiatives on priority setting are mainly geared towards the development of more cost-effectiveness information, and this evidence does not sufficiently support countries to make optimal...
متن کاملMore Results on Dynamic Cumulative Inaccuracy Measure
In this paper, borrowing the intuition in Rao et al. (2004), we introduce a cumulative version of the inaccuracy measure (CIM). Also we obtain interesting and applicable properties of CIM for different cases based on the residual, past and interval lifetime random variables. Relying on various applications of stochastic classes in reliability and information theory fields, we stu...
متن کاملMore Equienergetic Signed Graphs
The energy of signed graph is the sum of the absolute values of the eigenvalues of its adjacency matrix. Two signed graphs are said to be equienergetic if they have same energy. In the literature the construction of equienergetic signed graphs are reported. In this paper we obtain the characteristic polynomial and energy of the join of two signed graphs and thereby we give another construction ...
متن کاملMore skew-equienergetic digraphs
Two digraphs of same order are said to be skew-equienergetic if their skew energies are equal. One of the open problems proposed by Li and Lian was to construct non-cospectral skew-equienergetic digraphs on n vertices. Recently this problem was solved by Ramane et al. In this paper, we give some new methods to construct new skew-equienergetic digraphs.
متن کاملMore on Finance and Growth: More Finance, More Growth?
JULY/AUGUST 2003 31 Nobel Prize winners disagree about the impact of the financial sector on economic growth. Some do not even consider finance worth discussing. A collection of essays by the “pioneers of development economics”—including three winners of the Nobel Prize in Economics—does not discuss finance (Meier and Seers, 1984). At the other extreme, Nobel Prize winner Merton Miller (1998, p...
